BLOW OUT!!

What can we say... Our daughter is not the most lady-like. Aside from sliming us with poopy, burping and tooting like a truck driver...we still think she is adorable!

2 months old already!?

Where did the time go? My little munchkin can't be getting so big, so quickly! We have her 2 month checkup tomorrow. We are excited to see how much she weighs now that she figured out the whole eating thing. However, this checkup means there will be shots! Poor girl! We can't believe the changes that have happened over the past 8 weeks...she is tracking, smiling, cuddling, definitely knows her mommy, and giggling at her daddy (atleast someone laughs at his jokes)! She loves to smile HUGE at 2am when she wakes you up to change her diaper and she knows she should be sleeping...but it makes it all worth it!

Big girl!

Mom fashioned a headrest for me though! It is hard to hold a head up that is in the 97th percentile!

Just chillin'!

Who ever thought that gaining weight would be a problem in this family!?

Miss Harper went on a "diet" (or that is what we call it so we don't feel so guilty!!) after she left the hospital. We left the hospital and she weighed in at 7# 11oz (her birthweight was 7# 13oz), which is pretty good for a breastfed infant. Most infants may lose up to 10% of their birthweight as they are waiting for the breastmilk to come in. We went to her post-hospital check up the following tuesday and she weighed 7# 15oz. So, she was over her birthweight and we wouldn't have to wake her at night every 3 hours like we had been doing since leaving the hospital. Yeah! Apparently Miss Harper enjoys sleeping, and we don't mind in the slightest, but sleeping almost 6-8 hours a night is not conducive to gaining weight in a 1 week old. After a couple days my nursing judgement came into play and I was thinking that something just didn't look right. Harper was not "looking" any bigger, her newborn clothes were still big on her, and her fontanelle on her head was slightly sunken in. I took her to milkworks (a lactation consulting business) and weighed her and much to my dismay she had lost 9 oz! I was so sad! I felt so guilty! I then took her to the MD and he started us back on the 3 hour waking routine and were told to come back in a few days to reweigh. When we came back she weighed in at 7# 5.5oz, we were told to continue what we were doing...no supplementation yet. We went back about a week later and she was 7# 11 oz...making progress. After another five days we went back in for another weight check and she weighed 8lbs! Whoo hoo! But now we were starting the dreaded do not wake her and feed her at night routine...isn't this what got us in trouble in the first place?! But the MD reassured nurse mommy and we did just that. Now we are proud to annouce that Miss Harper gained 12.5oz in one week...amazing! Now our little one has a little pudgy belly and mommy/daddy couldn't be happier!!
